Empower your health journey with personalized nutrition and expert coaching.
Healing is a multifaceted process that often requires a holistic approach. While emotional and physical well-being are critical components, attention to diet and nutrition can play a significant role in overall health and recovery.
I offer a range of services designed to support individuals on their healing journey. These include personalized nutrition plans that cater to specific health needs, mindful eating coaching to promote a healthier relationship with food, and cooking tips that focus on nutrient-dense and anti-inflammatory ingredients.
In addition to these nutritional services, I provide wellness coaching that integrates dietary guidance with emotional support. This approach ensures that individuals not only address their physical needs but also cultivate a mindset conducive to healing. It’s one thing to know what not to do, it’s another to know what to eat, when and how to overcome social challenges.
By combining these various elements, I aim to create a comprehensive support system that empowers individuals to learn about their individual health and make changes for longevity and well-being.
Slow healing, Inflammation & Complete Care
Most people have known conditions they are treating that can slow progress of healing or cause symptoms that are annoying or uncomfortable. But, often people have other things they don’t know about that interfere with recovery. This is the role of functional medicine in conjunction with chiropractic care. If digestion is poor, if there are unknown food allergies or underlying health conditions it is difficult to make a full recovery.
It is not uncommon to refer for MRI, other imaging or blood testing for more complete diagnosis. There are also many functional medicine tests we can do easily in the office or we can refer you to other providers for specialty care.
Testing for Food Allergies
Food has a heavy influence on joint health. For many people foods cause joint pain. When conditions don’t respond as expected it can be a good idea to identify other causes of inflammation in the body.
Many people are unaware that food allergies can develop at any age. Even later in life. Food allergies can cause your immune system to respond in a variety of ways. and reactions range from mild to severe. Common symptoms may involve the skin, the gastrointestinal tract, the cardiovascular system, and even the respiratory tract. A few examples of food allergy symptoms include hives, stomach aches, exhaustion, tongue swelling, slow healing and chronic inflammation.
We do provide food allergy and other functional medicine testing in our office.
Gluten-Free Information
More and more people are learning about gluten. It can often be an underlying problem in joint pain and muscles aches. Dr. Putnam has lived a gluten free for many years and can easily help you navigate a gluten free life.
Gluten is a protein present in wheat, barley, rye and sometimes oats. Gluten is responsible for the elastic texture of dough. It is the primary ingredient in bread, crackers, pasta but is also used as a thickener in many dishes. For people who are sensitive to gluten, their reaction can be anywhere from mild to extreme. For those with the autoimmune condition, Celiac disease, gluten can be extremely harmful. Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition that results in an immune reaction that damages the small intestine.
Testing
There are many ways to test for celiac disease, and not all negative tests are accurate. However, a positive test indicates celiac diseas which is a severe autoimmune disorder that damages the small intesting. It indicates the absolute need for committed restrition and avoiding cross-contamination.
Today, there are many healthy, good tasting options using alternative grains and other food substitutes. With a little coaching going gluten-free has many benefits, not only for pain, but for overall health.
Testing is simple and can be done in our office
