Traditional medical, orthopedic and neurological testing are used to diagnose  spinal injuries and conditions.

However, as a chiropractic physician, Dr. Putnam also notices imbalances that indicate opportunities to incorporate rehabilitative exercises, stretches and even yoga. This unique perspective  as physician and  yoga instructor creates new practice opportunities for rehab and prevention..

Yoga can be practiced at home or with others and it offers other avenues for those who have not previously considered it for themselves.

Through personal discovery Dr. Putnam began to view yoga through the lens of a physical medicine physician. She realized yoga can be both subtle or demanding and therefore can be applied to almost all body types. Whatever your injury, physical condition or level of experience, the goal is the same for everyone: to keep you as pain free and active as possible.

Certain yoga poses offer rehabilitative qualities especially good for stabilizing spine and joint conditions.  Yoga supports physical injuries and also addresses some of the more complicated contributors that are both internal and external.

Consider a private or group session for these reasons:

  • Personalized evaluation & instruction
  • Hands on guidance
  • Learn how to reduce the risk of injury, specific to your condition
  • Learn modifications that work for your injury or body type
  • Instruction can be  applied to any yoga class
  • Confidential discussion and personalized guidance for your health goals & healing

*Insurance may cover therapeutic exercise if you are an established patient under direct chiropractic care. Ask for more information. 406.888.6044

New to Yoga?

Yoga is a wonderful way to feel better, get stronger, center your mind, become more aware of your body, alleviate stress, and relax. Age and body type don’t matter. You’re never too young or too old to start practicing yoga.

If you are unsure where to start or have concerns about whether or not yoga is for you, try several different classes or or take a private lesson.

Is Yoga for Me? What if I'm not flexible?

Yoga is for everyone, not just flexible folks. Whether you can touch your toes or not a regular stretching practice is good for most everyone. And, yoga helps strength as much as flexibility.

Consider yoga if you are seeking health and wellness and want to improve your physical and mental wellbeing.

Yoga can be as restful or as rigorous as you want it to be and modification can be provided for most body types and health conditions.

The benefits include core strengthening, toning, improved balance, and feeling more relaxed and connected to your physical and emotional body.
